The methodology for landscaping in the Pabna town near the Ichamoti River involves the systematic investigation of existing social, ecological, and geological conditions. Landscape plays a vital role in the design process. The direct involvement of the community and Architects through designing can play a great role in protecting rivers and creating relational reciprocity between the cities and rivers. Restoration of the river is vital for the reestablishment of all functions like hydrological, ecological, biological, hydro-morphological, hydraulic, economic and social etc. In Pabna district of Bangladesh has lost her potential for extensive use over the last couple of decades due to various interventions like cross-dam at off-take and closing of the river at downstream for irrigation, heavy siltation and encroachments, urban waste disposal, agricultural pollutants, and many other factors. The Ichamoti River is a trans-boundary river which flows through India and Bangladesh and also forms the boundary between the two countries. The rivers surrounding the cities are an advantage to it and essential for the survival of the city as these provide drainage system, drinking water, different kinds of fishes and also waterways for travelling. The identities and distinctive characteristics of many cities are closely tied to their rivers, and the many ways their residents interact with their waters. Natural water bodies like river, canal and lakes play an important role in the establishment of a balance between nature and social life for the sustainable development of cities.
